History

The Crichton Cultural Community Centre (CCCC) was established in 1999 to preserve the Crichton School as a hub of community life and cohesiveness.

For over a decade, the New Edinburgh Community & Arts Centre (formerly the Crichton Cultural Community Centre) provided community recreational programming and a broad range of artistic and cultural activities for the New Edinburgh community and greater Ottawa area out of 200 Crichton.

We were delighted to announce that in July of 2012, we became the proud owners of a splendid heritage home for the community. The new location, affectionately known as “New Edinburgh House” (NEH), is a heritage building of considerable historical significance in the community being built in 1830 by Thomas Mackay, a legendary figure in the history of Ottawa and leading Stone Mason for the Rideau Canal.

This is a triumph for the New Edinburgh community after many years of hard work and dedication on the part of a a committed and creative staff, an active and dedicated Board of Directors and a broad base of loyal volunteer support from the community.
