MELT Method Workshop: Upper Body Moves for Shoulders, Neck, Arms & Hands
Upper body strength and tone keeps the upper spine upright and the joints of the shoulders, elbows, and wrists stable and operating smoothly. Unfortunately most of us overuse one arm and one shoulder, rarely move our arms overhead, spend a lot of time typing with slouched shoulders, curled fingers, and heavy heads hanging down or pushed forward, and few of us use our arms to carry heavy loads (we have shopping carts and strollers for that, right?). These static positions and repetitive movements can lead to connective tissue dysfunction, postural misalignment, atypical joint compression, and compensatory movement patterns-all of which can cause common aches and pains such as headaches, shoulder impingements, frozen shoulders, carpal tunnel syndrome, and chronic neck and mid/upper back pain.
This MELT® workshop addresses connective dysfunction, or “stuck stress”, that accumulates in the shoulder girdle and affects our upper body strength, flexibility, and mobility. Using MELT Soft Body Rollers and Hand Treatment Balls, you will learn 10-minute MELT self-treatment sequences focused on releasing chronic tension, improving alignment, and restoring the vitality of the connective tissue surrounding the skull, shoulders, chest, ribs, spine, arms and hands. MELT NeuroStrength™ exercises will focus on improving the strength and coordination of the deep stabilizing muscles of the shoulder girdle so that proper patterns of movement can be restored, and you can enjoy upper body strength training without back or neck pain.
